I have been thinking about writing from a long time but the last few days in college have been the busiest. Let me back you up a little before coming to the reason behind Road 7. The last three days in my life has been such - I wake up at 7 in the morning, get ready for college and leave. Attend college till 5 PM. Now, I have been working for the Business Incubator in my college and we are coming up with an event, so I work on that till dinner and later reach my room only to find myself totally exhausted from the days work. With no energy left for anything whatsoever I go off to sleep. That's pretty much been the last 3 days.
No matter how tough its been in these days, it has taught me a very important lesson in life. The Value of TIME. That thick disc-like thing mounted on the wall that goes tik-tok all day is indeed of great value.
Ask the teenagers around you what they do in their pastime, or what are the things they enjoy doing. I can guarantee that the majority will say "I love sleeping" or "I sleep all the time" with a broad smile on their face as though they were just on stage receiving a Nobel Prize for it. It is actually astonishing and sad how most of us are actually proud of the fact that we can sleep for 20 hours in a day.
How many times have you take pride in saying that you delayed an important task at hand because you were sleeping?
I'm sure that there are some of you sitting right in front of the screen mocking what you are reading. But, the day you decide to do something serious with life and you are burdened with things that you should have finished earlier you will regret the time wasted.
Time is precious and is best spent on something constructive. Thankfully, I'm not just writing philosophy here but I also have proof to support my point. Hopefully by the end of it you'd agree with me too. Here's a simple 2 day experiment that I thought of.
Day 1: Get up as late as possible for start. Delay all the important work for the next day. You feel cool when you say you slept for the entire day, right? Go ahead and feel proud of yourself. There is really no reason to feel guilty about wasting the entire day because "hey you are actually doing an experiment you read on The Journey". Watch TV, play games and spend time on the phone for hours. Let this day be THE LAZY DAY of your life and when you finally go to bed at night feel good about the entire day WASTED.
Day 2: Get up on time and be at your best efficiency level. This is that one day in your life where all the important work will be on the top of your priority list. Even if you are to submit an assignment two weeks later, this is the day you will complete it. You will utilize every second of the day. Needless to say, if you try and use up the entire day you will end up exhausted by the end of it. Just like the previous day when you finally go to bed at night feel good about the entire day USED.
Now lets come to the motive of Road 7. It is just a question that you need to ask yourself while you lie on your bed at the end of Day 2.
